Hi, thanks for the pattern! I just finished it and it is beautiful! I was wondering if in the pattern for the flat version you meant to say to K2, P2 for all the rows instead of saying K2, P2 and then P2, K2? I tried it the way you wrote it for the first couple of rows but the ribbing didn’t come through. Any thoughts?

I just finished making this pattern. I used a size 8 needle and worsted weight yarn as recommended, I found this pattern to be very large (or maybe I have a large head?). It also curled up and was not ribbed like the picture shows. I think perhaps the pattern should be
Row 1-6 *K1 P1* repeat to end and Rows 20-27 *K1 P1* repeat to end.
I am going to try it again with the pattern changes and leaving off the garter stitch like the picture does. I also think I am going to decrease the amount of stitches to make it smaller. I guess I will have to give the first one to someone with a bigger head!
oops maybe I have a *small* head….
Check your gauge. I may have a tighter gauge than you have. Or you might be right and you just might have a small head. 😉

Devin: i cant reach your email so i ‘m posting. I’ve made a number of headbands and now friends and others all want them. So cute! I want to charge them a minimal amount to cover the yarn at least. YOu dont have the usual disclaimer on your pattern i.e. “for person use only”. But i feel weird doing this w/o asking. can you respond?

The only thing that would bother me is if someone were to take my pattern (the physical pattern, not items made from it) and try to sell it as their own. The finished products made from the pattern are yours to do with as you please. 🙂

I’m a bit confused. I’d like to make this pattern but should I follow the posted pattern or do changes still need to be made to it. In December or 2012 you said you fixed it but unsure if the pattern I see has been? It was posted Nov 2012. I don’t want to have to start over again if I don’t have to. Thank you!!!
The pattern is correct as written. If you’d like a tighter rib you can do “k1, p1” around like a previous commenter was wondering, but if you would like it to look like the picture you should stick with “k2, p2” as written in the pattern.
I’m exceptionally new to knitting, and I found this pattern easy to follow and it makes a lovely headband. Having dreadlocks means I struggle to find hats that fit me properly, so I love woolly headbands. The pattern made one that fit over my head and ears perfectly and will definitely fit my giganta-head. 😛 Thanks for making this!
i loved this pattern i knitted it with the garter rows in and i went to the pattern u did for the in the round headband to get a pattern for a flower as i do not know a thing about crocheting. so i used miss crafty fingers pattern (but i didnt like how the flower looked) so i took out the sixth petal and made them a bit shorter than they called for and made a flower much to my liking. thank you for sharing this pattern with us all

Super pattern, thank you, one little point, I think you will find on the adult flat version the all knit rows should be 12-16 not 12-17?
Thanks for the pattern. I made it for neighbors daughter for her birthday, i think stitches for kids is big cause it came out big. Think i’ll just give it to her mum instead as a Christmas present..
It just depends on your gauge — that’s why it’s so important to knit a swatch before working on a pattern. Your gauge must be bigger than mine is.

What are you suppose to do for row 17? First it says to knit the row and then its says to pearl it.

Question: I’ve done this in the round {also found it large, so I scaled back} and loved it. I’m away from home and the cable for this set {not my interchangeables, that I was unwilling to risk through security} is waaaay too long, so I hopped over to the flat version.
It does not look in the picture like it has the same ridge in the middle of the pattern? Rows 10-14 on the pattern look like they should make the ridge since they’re all knit, but in the picture, it looks totally flat in the middle. Is the picture not the pattern??
If you look at the caption under the picture it says that it’s an example with the garter rows (the middle rows that make the ridge) left out. Same pattern just done a different way. If you follow the pattern exactly it will be with the garter rows in the middle to create the ridge. 🙂
Yep. Worked out just fine. I didn’t read down far enough. It looked like it would, but I thought I’d ask.
For whatever it’s worth, I did this casting on 74 {instead of 84} on a size 8 {loose}. I couldn’t remember what I did on the last 4, but they were stil marginally big. This one fits perfectly, and will be great for running. 😀
